Sustainability at Van der Valk Hotel Mons Congres & Spa
A green future
At Van der Valk Hotel Mons Congres & Spa, we are committed to responsible and environmentally conscious hospitality. Respect for nature is at the heart of our mission and is reflected in how we operate every day.
All our team members follow clear environmental procedures, going beyond the legal requirements of the Walloon region. We aim to lead by example, making conscious investments in sustainable practices and minimizing our ecological impact.
From energy savings and waste reduction to renewable energy use and guest awareness, we strive to create a hotel experience where comfort and environmental responsibility go hand in hand.
Our Sustainable Actions
Wooden keycards
A greener alternative
We’ve replaced plastic keycards with wooden ones—biodegradable, renewable, and stylish. These eco-friendly cards are a small but impactful step toward reducing plastic waste and promoting conscious choices throughout the hotel.
Tesla Superchargers
Electric cars welcome
Our parking area features Tesla Superchargers, available to all electric vehicles. With this initiative, we support green mobility and provide a practical and sustainable solution for travelers who want to charge their car during their stay.
Glass instead of plastic
Real glasses, less waste
To reduce single-use waste, we replaced plastic cups in our rooms with reusable glassware. It’s a small change that adds comfort for our guests while aligning with our commitment to reducing disposable plastic throughout the hotel.
Tracking consumption
Efficient and thoughtful
We continuously monitor water and energy consumption using smart systems. These insights allow us to optimize operations, minimize waste, and maintain high levels of guest comfort—all while being more energy conscious.
Recycling & biogas
Nothing goes to waste
We carefully separate waste, including organic matter that is processed into biogas. We also use geothermal energy in our facilities. These sustainable practices help us reduce our footprint and preserve air, water, and soil quality.
